Manowar
Manowar is an American heavy metal band from Auburn, New York, formed in 1980. The band is recognized for lyrics that often draw on fantasy themes, including sword and sorcery, and on various mythologies, particularly Norse and Greco-Roman mythology. Their music frequently emphasizes the characteristics of heavy metal and its culture. The band is noted for a loud and emphatic sound. In February 2007, bassist Joey DeMaio described the band as producing "big, epic metal" featuring prominent guitars, choirs, and orchestras. In 1984, Manowar was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for delivering the loudest performance, a record they later surpassed. They also hold the world record for the longest heavy metal concert, performing for five hours and one minute in Bulgaria at the Kavarna Rock Fest in 2008. The band has promoted the slogan "death to false metal".
