Angus Mcsix
Angus McSix is an international power metal band formed by Swiss singer Thomas Winkler and German producer, vocalist, and guitarist Sebastian "Seeb" Levermann. The band’s debut studio album, "Angus McSix and the Sword of Power", was released on 21 April 2023 through Napalm Records. Each member of the band embodies a character in the concept story told across the album.
The band was formed in August 2021 following Winkler’s departure from Gloryhammer. Levermann, leader of the German band Orden Ogan, approached Winkler with the idea of creating a new power metal supergroup. The name Angus McSix reflects a continuation and “upgrade” of Winkler’s former stage character, Angus McFife. Italian guitarist Thalia Bellazecca (ex-Frozen Crown) and former Rhapsody of Fire drummer Manu Lotter joined the project to complete the lineup.
The quartet recorded material at Greenman Studios during 2022 and produced music videos in Serbia for the singles "Master of the Universe" and "Sixcalibur". The album "Angus McSix and the Sword of Power" continues the story of the fictional Scottish crown prince Angus McFife XIII, who returns from the dead as a more powerful version of himself. The album reached number ten on the German album charts, number 16 in Switzerland, number 26 in Austria, and number 24 on the UK rock and metal charts, marking it as one of the most successful power metal debuts in those countries.
On 7 January 2025, the band released the single "6666" from their upcoming album, alongside lineup changes: Winkler was replaced by Sam Nyman (Adam McSix), and Manu Lotter was replaced by Gerit Lamm (Ork Zero). On 30 September 2025, the band released another single, "The Fire of Yore", and announced new guitarist Jasmin Pabst (The Dwarf). The band’s second studio album, "Angus McSix and the All-Seeing Astral Eye", was released on 13 March 2026.
Angus McSix’s music combines late 1990s power metal influences with modern disco elements. Their sound has been compared to Sonata Arctica and Blind Guardian. The vocals are powerful, clear, and multi-faceted, drawing comparisons to Rob Halford and Ronnie James Dio, while the songs generally follow classic verse structures.
