EAV
Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung (EAV), which translates to "First General Confusion/Uncertainty" in English, was an Austrian band active from 1977 until its disbandment in 2019. The group was founded by Nino Holm and Thomas Spitzer following the dissolution of Holm's earlier band, Anti-Pasta. The name EAV was inspired by a bus stop near the offices of "Erste Allgemeine Versicherung" (First General Insurance), whose abbreviation EAV the band adopted.
Early in their career, the band encountered legal issues due to the similarity of their name to that of the insurance company. These issues were later resolved, and the company eventually supported the band on several occasions.
EAV underwent numerous lineup changes over the years. The members during the later phase of the band's existence included Klaus Eberhartinger (vocals), Thomas Spitzer (guitar, vocals), Kurt Keinrath (guitar, keyboard, bass guitar), Franz Kreimer (keyboard), Alvis Reid (bass guitar), and Aaron Thier (drums).
The band became known for its theatrical live performances, which featured elaborate sets and costumes often tailored to individual songs. These performances typically included dramatic interpretations by the vocalist or other band members.
Although the group did not achieve widespread international recognition, EAV maintained a strong following in Austria and Germany.
