Sylvaine
Kathrine Elizabeth Shepard (/ka.triː.nə/, born 1991 in San Diego, CA, US), best known by her moniker Sylvaine (/sil.vɛn/), is a Norwegian musician. Originally based in Oslo, Norway; since 2015 based in Paris, France.
As she says, “Sylvaine serves as an emotional catharsis, leading me on a quest to explore profound sensations and concerns within me, sometimes dealing with questions where the answers seem vague, empty or absent. This project is a way of processing every aspect of life, allowing me to deal with matters that otherwise would be suppressed…”
Kathrine’s mother is Norwegian, but her father (Stephen Shepard) is American. He happened to play drums on her first three full-length albums.
